Overview:

Al-Quran Al-Kareem was revealed for us Muslims to read, understand, learn from, and implement its teachings in our lives. It is one of ALLAH (ﷻ)'s most benevolent and generous blessings that each one of these practices carries its own merits and rewards - to be multiplied exponentially when combined with those of others - but ample in their own right.

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم: مَنْ قَرَأَ حَرْفًا مِنْ كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَلَهُ بِهِ حَسَنَةٌ وَالْحَسَنَةُ بِعَشْرِ أَمْثَالِهَا لاَ أَقُولُ الم حَرْفٌ وَلَكِنْ أَلِفٌ حَرْفٌ وَلاَمٌ حَرْفٌ وَمِيمٌ حَرْفٌ (راوه الترمذي)

The Messenger of ALLAH (ﷺ) said: “[Whoever recites a letter] from ALLAH (ﷻ)'s Book, then he receives the reward from it, and the reward of ten the like of it. I do not say that Alif Lam Meem is a letter, but Alif is a letter, Lam is a letter and Meem is a letter.” (Tirmidhi, 2910)

What is incumbent upon us is that we ensure our practice of reciting Al-Quran Al-Kareem is sound and respects its divine stature. The importance of correct recitation is also impressed upon us by ALLAH (ﷻ) Himself:

أَوْ زِدْ عَلَيْهِ وَرَتِّلِ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ تَرْتِيلًا

“And recite the Quran with Tarteel” (73:4)

“Tarteel” stands for recitation that is slow, rhythmic, and steady. Taking into account the significance of this discipline, our Tilawah course is designed to help students apply the rules of tajweed in a manner that fulfills the right of Al-Quran, and understand the concepts, styles, and methods for correct and improved recitation.

This course will not only help students to learn the basic rules of Tajweed but will also teach how to apply those rules while reciting. Upon successful completion of this course, the students will develop a thorough understanding of tajweed rules and its significance, have an enhanced level of pronunciation, and improved reading abilities.
